Free laundry services are available at The Wash House located at 2609 SE 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97202 (SE 6th & Ivon). Hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You bring laundry to us, and we wash it and give it back to you. It's that easy! We offer same or next-day pick up and accept up to one bag (40 pounds or 18 kilograms) of laundry per person per day.
Funded by the City of Portland, The Wash House is an innovative textile reuse and hygiene access program that reduces landfill waste while meeting essential public health needs for Portlanders. By combining sustainable laundry services with clothing recovery and repair, The Wash House diverts thousands of pounds of textiles from the waste stream and supports the dignity and well-being of participants.

The Wash House serves as both a critical hygiene resource and a closed loop sustainability initiative that advances climate resilience goals. Through the program, we also wash bedding for local shelters, and we clean and redistribute clothing, blankets and other textiles collected by Rapid Response. Every month, this program diverts 5 tons of textiles waste that would otherwise go straight to the landfill and prevents the emission of 12 tons of CO2 equivalent.
• Projected Diversion: 60,000 pounds of textiles annually
• Prevented the emission of about 53 tons of CO₂ equivalent prevented between November 2024 and January 2025
